OBJECTIVE 1:
Stay involved with extra-curricular activities this year and obtain leadership positions within your chosen activities.

If you haven't prepped yet for the ACT or SAT, now is the time to start. Taking the tests early in your Junior year will provide you with feedback that can inform your test prep strategy.

OBJECTIVE 1:
Start the academic year off right with making a renewed committment to achieving a high GPA and excellent college prep test scores and continuing study habits to achieve those goals. 

ACTION 1:
Meet with your high school counselor to check on your class rank and GPA. Even if your grades aren't as high as you would like, colleges like to see an upward trend so make a push for academic excellence this year.

Make a list of 7-10 potential colleges and research their admission requirements. Remember to evaluate the following when choosing a potential college: size, location, cost, and available majors.

Take the PSAT again to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program. Students should take the PSAT in October of their junior year to compete for National Merit Scholarships.

Determine your eligibility and begin the certification process for the NCAA if you are planning on playing a Division I or Division II sport in college.

OBJECTIVE 1:
All Michigan juniors are required to take the ACT this month (2015) as part of the Michigan Merit Curriculum. This ACT is taken at the student's high school and is paid for by the State of Michigan.  Beginning in 2016, all Michigan juniors will take the SAT as the State has switched tests starting next year.

Scores will be returned from the March ACT and SAT.  Develop a plan for retaking the test to obtain a higher score that includes a test prep course before the re-take.

Schedule challenging classes for senior year to stay on the ʺcollege readinessʺ track. Schedule more AP courses and continue your foreign language course sequence.

Apply for summer internships or jobs, specifically in a field that you are interested in pursuing.
